Who we are
This site is published by Market Equities Limited, Courtyard, Manor House, 3 Church Rd, Malahide, Co. Dublin, K36 AK25, Ireland. For any privacy question or request, contact us via our contact page.
What we collect
When you simply read the site
We use analytics software to understand which articles are read and how people arrive here. This records information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, the referring site, and your browser and device type. We use this in aggregate to decide what to cover; we do not use it to identify you personally.
When you subscribe to our newsletter
We collect the email address you give us and, if you choose to provide one, a mobile number. We use them to send you the newsletter you asked for, and SMS alerts where you have given us a number. The mobile number is optional — an email address alone subscribes you. We do not sell either. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list; to stop text messages, contact us and we will remove your number.
Server logs
Our web server records requests, including IP addresses, as a normal part of operating and securing the site.
Third parties
Some parts of this site load content from other companies, which means your browser contacts them directly and they may set cookies or receive your IP address:
- Statcounter — analytics. It sets cookies and receives your IP address to count visits and report which pages are read.
- Rybbit — analytics. It receives your IP address and details of the pages you visit, so we can see which coverage is read.
- TradingView — the market overview widget.
- Eagle Eye — the sentiment widget.
- Google Fonts — typefaces used across the site.
- Mailchimp — newsletter and SMS delivery, if you subscribe. Your email address, and any mobile number you give us, are stored on Mailchimp's systems.
Each of these has its own privacy policy, which governs what they do with that information.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Cookies may be set by the third parties listed above when their content loads — analytics and the embedded market widgets in particular.
Because Market Equities Limited is established in Ireland, EU and UK data protection rules apply to visitors from those regions, and non-essential cookies require consent before they are set. Analytics on this site is currently not collecting data; a consent mechanism will be in place before it is restored.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser at any time. Doing so will not stop you reading the site.
How long we keep things
Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Newsletter subscriptions — your email address and any mobile number you gave us — are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, or to receive a copy. Contact us and we will respond.
You can also opt out of analytics tracking using your browser's "Do Not Track" setting or an ad-blocker, and unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
We'll update this page if our practices change, and we'll change the date at the top when we do.
