The COLA of the Social Security of the United States has meant that citizens with a benefit can receive in 2025 a Direct Deposit with a much higher amount than in the previous year. Retirees who will receive Social Security soon
Americans who are part of retirement group 1 and have Direct Deposit activated as a collection method can receive payment in their bank accounts today. Therefore, some Americans receive payment today and others have to wait a bit longer to enjoy this benefit. This group 1 of retirees only has to meet one requirement.
The mandatory requirement to be part of this group is to have a check accepted before May 1997. If you are in this group, in this first full week of February you will have your retirement payment in your bank account. If you have Direct Deposit activated, the money will have already arrived in your checking account. If you do not have this collection method, the money will arrive in the next 24 or 48 hours.
Maximum Social Security check in March 2025
If we take into account that the COLA has increased Social Security payments in 2025, we can be sure that the payment of this benefit reached its maximum amount last January. But in March we will continue to receive the same maximum check as before. Thus, the maximum payment we can get is $5,180, although not for everyone.
Only retirees who have maximized this benefit during their working years can reach that maximum payment. Otherwise, it is possible that we are among the average checks, which are usually between $1,600 and $2,000 per month. In any case, this week we will get the check if we meet the established requirement.
More Social Security payments in March 2025
Before the end of March 2025, the Social Security Administration will send more payments to other groups of retirees. If your benefit is after May 1997, you will have to wait until the 12th, 19th or 26th of this month. Thus, citizens who are waiting for this type of check can get the benefit on any of those days.
For collection of the retirement check on the 12th, it is also necessary to have a birthday between the 1st and the 10th of any month. The payment on the 19th is for retirees with birthdays between the 11th and the 20th of any month. Finally, the check for March 26th, the last of the month, will be for retirees with birthdays between the 21st and the 31st of any month.
