Farewell to May Social Security payments for many groups of Americans – The wait won’t be too long

While it is true that the United States Social Security payment schedule for May has already ended, those Americans who are waiting for a check will not have to wait too long. The June payment schedule is about to begin and thanks to it we will get some new retirement payments.

However, we must keep in mind that within the month of June we will find up to 2 irregularities in the Social Security payment schedule. Therefore, we could find that the payment of one of our checks does not arrive on the day marked by the usual calendar of payments of each month. Just looking at when the irregularities will occur is enough.

Social Security Payments in June 2024

In total, the Administration will send within the month of June 2024 four different checks. Although there should be 5 checks, the truth is that 1 of the checks this month is sent early on May 31st. So this payment corresponds to the payment for the month of June but arrives earlier to the beneficiaries.

Thus, all the payments corresponding to the month of June, with the advance payment included, are:

  • May 31st. June Supplemental Security Income payment. The payment is advanced because June 1st is the weekend.
  • June 3rd. Payment for retirees prior to May 1997.
  • June 12th. Social Security Payment for retirees after May 1997. Birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month are also required.
  • June 18th. Payment for retirees after May 1997. Also required between the 11th and 20th of any month.
  • June 26th. Payment for retirees after May 1997. Also required between the 21st and 31st of any month.

The June 18th payment should actually be June 19th, but that day is a holiday throughout the United States. On the other hand, we must also always keep in mind that these retirement checks are paid on different days due to the characteristics mentioned above. In other words, the reason for retirement does not affect the day of collection.

Also, the amount of the check does not matter whether you can collect the benefit earlier or later. What does matter is the year of retirement and the date of birth. The other information does not determine when the Social Security retirement payment will be available.
