The markets had a good day all around on Friday, but things were relatively flat on our Huntsville and Alabama Stock Report.
Boeing, which has had a presence in Alabama for decades, was at the top, climbing a modest 2.8%.
“Since 1962, Boeing’s Alabama facilities have been concentrated around Huntsville, Madison County, where the company supports the activities of the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and military operations at Redstone Arsenal. The company currently employs about 2,700 people in the state, primarily as engineering and research support staff,” according to the Encyclopedia of Alabama.
Carpenter Technology was next, rising 1.8%.
Down at the bottom were Target, Regions and Synovus. They fell 1.9%, 1.2% and 1.2%, respectively.
Overall, Stocks rose Friday to send Wall Street to its first winning week since July after the head of the Federal Reserve said it will “proceed carefully” as it decides what to do with interest rates.
