On the upcoming May 8th, the Social Security Administration will pay the new one of the retirement checks to a specific group of Americans. If we want to get this payment we have to meet a couple of mandatory requirements. And not only that, but there is an extra requirement that gives us the opportunity to collect the payment on the same day of mailing.
Still, it is true that meeting the two mandatory requirements is enough for the Social Security Administration to send us the check on the next 8th day. One of the requirements is related to the year of retirement. The other requirement is linked to the beneficiary’s birthday.
Requirements to get the May 8th Social Security check
We only have to meet two mandatory requirements, as we have already discussed. But it is true that if we want the Social Security as soon as possible, we have to meet an extra requirement. Pay attention to find out if you are eligible for May 8th check.
Here are the two mandatory requirements for collecting May 8th Social Security:
- Have a retirement benefit, either disability or non-disability, as of May 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month.
And there are no other mandatory requirements except to have Direct Deposit activated for same-day collection. If we do not have this collection method activated, the Social Security Administration will mail the check, but we will get it a few days later.
What is the maximum Social Security check in May 2024?
The maximum Social Security payment in May 2024 comes to $4,783 per month after adding the COLA. While it is true that the COLA for this year 2024 has not been huge it has been enough for a retiree to reach that large figure.
Also, it is not necessary to have the maximum Social Security check in order to get the COLA increase. Each and every payment sent by the SSA has the increase added to it as of January of this year 2024.
So we can say that Social Security payments are higher in 2024 and will likely be higher still in the next year 2025. It will all depend on what the COLA will be in the following years, but most likely these payments will reach a higher figure than this year’s checks.
