Lenovo rollable laptop and smartphone prototypes get their latest outing

Lenovo’s newest PCs have made their debut at MWC 2023; however, they may be overshadowed in the eyes of some attendees due to other devices that have accompanied them to the Barcelona show. Therefore, the latest ThinkPads and IdeaPads may be thankful that their rollable displays are, as the OEM has now revealed, still at the concept stage.

The OEM’s cutting-edge devices are also still in the forms showcased previously, although the concept laptop still impresses with its ability to stay stable and balanced as its display size automatically grows from ~12 to 16 inches vertically.

We got a slightly more in-depth look at the Motorola rollable smartphone prototype, however. It is a markedly thick device in its current form, with an unusual aspect-ratio in its non-extended form. Then again, its display deployment mechanism makes up for that, revealing that it is wrapped part-way around the phone, starting from a protrusion resembling a magnetic wallet on its rear panel.

Accordingly, part of its screen can act as a secondary display, or a selfie viewer for its dual rear cameras, at need. Then again, there is no guarantee that a real-world first-gen rollable Motorola smartphone would look or work like the current prototype; nevertheless, it seems Lenovo is on the right track with its next-gen display tech.
