Intel introduced Tiger Lake in September of last year, with the series being bolstered by the Tiger Lake-H35 parts in early 2021. Team Blue had already revealed that the 11th Gen H-series would eventually be joined by some more-powerful 8-core/16-thread chips that could manage up to 5 GHz on multiple cores. It now seems a few (if not all) of those 45 W processors have made a public appearance.
At the top of the stack there is the Intel Core i9-11980HK with its 8-core, 16-thread configuration. According to a report out of China, this chip will be able to get to a boost rate of 5 GHz in a dual-core capacity, which is still “multiple cores” and as much as can be expected from a laptop processor. However, hitting that particular mark will likely take power consumption beyond 45 W.
Joining the flagship unlocked HK processor are the i9-11900H (8 cores, 16 threads), the i7-11800H (8 cores, 16 threads), and the i5-11400H (6 cores, 12 threads). According to a leaked roadmap, Tiger Lake-H45 should start appearing before the end of this first quarter of the year. Twenty lanes of PCIe 4.0 support is included as is the presence of Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 6/6E.
