Boeing South Carolina will celebrate Sunday night as it prepares to deliver its first 787-10 Dreamliner this week.
The aircraft, built for Singapore Airlines, was constructed at its North Charleston assembly facility.
Singapore Airlines is the launch customer of the 787-10, Boeing’s newest Dreamliner design, and ordered 30 of them in October. It has also committed to purchase 19 more 787-10s.
All 787-10 Dreamliners are built exclusively at Boeing South Carolina.
The 787-10 is 18 feet longer than the 787-9, and will deliver 25 percent better fuel-per-seat and emissions than the aircraft it will replace, according to Boeing spokesperson Joanna Pickup.
The airplane can fly 330 passengers in a two-class configuration for up to 6,430 nautical miles and has additional cargo capacity.
Boeing has more than 170 orders for the 787-10 from nine customers worldwide.
Singapore Airlines will be the first customer to operate all three models of the Dreamliner family.
