Costco to offer new perk for customers — but there’s a catch

Costco is thanking some of its customers for their loyalty with a new perk.

Unfortunately, the perk will not apply to all customers, but only customers who pay for the highest-level membership.

Costco will begin allowing executive members in the U.S. to shop an hour earlier than those with standard memberships, Business Insider reported. The change is set to start June 30.

The company also said that executive members would start receiving a $10 monthly credit for Instacart orders and $150 worth of other benefits and savings on Costco services.

Costco’s executive membership costs $130 per year. A regular gold star membership is $65.

Less than half of Costco members are executive-tier, which costs twice as much as the standard $65-a-year level gold star tier. But executive members account for more than 73% of the company’s total sales, Business Insider added.

This isn’t the only recent change to Costco.

In May, Costco announced its members-only gas stations will remain open until 10 p.m. and some locations also opening earlier in the morning.
